Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant Program is committed to providing a high standard of quality medical assisting education to all our students. This will be accomplished by providing a good foundation in basic medical assisting knowledge and skills; critical thinking, and personal qualities. Through cooperative team efforts, our graduate medical assistants will be successful in their certification requirements; be prepared for an entry level medical assisting position; adopt measures that ensure the safe practice of medical assisting; show sensitivity to cultural diversity; promote health habits that contribute to total wellness.
Program Overview
The Medical Assistant program is designed to prepare students for employment in different medical settings, such as a physician’s office, private practices, clinics, and facilities hospital.
The curriculum provides students with 1060 hours the administrative, clinical, and interpersonal skills necessary to succeed in the medical assisting field, also our students before graduating have 160 hours of practice in the different clinics assigned to exercise the knowledge acquired in their Medical Assistant Program.
Upon successful completion students will be prepared to take the national exam for Clinical Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA).
What you will learn
You will gain a solid understanding of Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology and Disease Process, Legal & Ethical Aspect in Health Care, Medical Office Procedures, and basic concepts of Pharmacology. Also You will be tasked with important procedures, like measuring vital signs, administering injections, and performing phlebotomy (drawing blood) and Electrocardiogram procedures.
As a Medical Assistant, you may perform some or all the following tasks
- Support clinic administration and management
- Administer therapeutic injections and vaccinations
- Perform clinical lab testing and lab specimen collection
- Perform EKGs, spirometry, and audiometry
- Assist physicians with patient care in a variety of in-office procedures
- Perform patient data entry and charting
- Perform medical procedures and help doctors stay organized

Program Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
